July 22, 2008 — WilmingtonJim Tevebaugh (Tevebaugh & Associates), Carrie Gray (Wilmington Renaissance Corporation) and Megan McGlinchey (Riverfront Development Corporation) - members of the Friends of Furness Railroad District - presented Senator Carper with a print of Robert Nickle's "First Arrival" depicting the first train arriving at the Wilmington Train Station 100 years ago this July. Senator Carper is a supporter of passenger rail and has been working with the group to help maintain the historical significance of the Wilmington Train Station.
July 22, 2008 – Dover Air Force BaseSenator Carper addressed the crowd at Dover Air Force Base at the groundbreaking for a new $14 million dorm tol house 148 non-married Airmen. Each resident will have their own bedroom and bathroom, and will share a common kitchen and living room with three other residents. It is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

July 17, 2008 — WashingtonSenator Carper met with members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority from Delaware who were in Washington to celebrate their sorority's 100th anniversary.
July 10, 2008 – WashingtonListen to Senator Carper speak about the importance of renewable fuels in response to a hearing he held in his Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety.
July 7, 2008 — WilmingtonSenator Carper announced $162,117 in federal funding for Wesley College's School of Nursing. The money came through the Health and Human Services Education appropriations bill and will help with building expansion. He is shown with nursing staff (background), College President Dr. William Johnston and chair of nursing department Dr. Lucille Gambardella.
Sen. Carper asked questions of nursing program grad student William Skibicki as he demonstrated daily tasks on a simulation mannequin.
July 3, 2008 Senator Carper rode a Segway and learned about this alternative method of transportation for short distance travel. The greenhouse gas emissions from the Segway PT are 14 times less than those from an average automobile. The Segway PT is also 11 times more efficient than the average American car. The Segway is rechargeable through a standard electrical electrical outlet and can get up to 25 miles on a single charge. And, no special license is needed to operate a Segway.
July 3, 2008 — LewesOn Thursday, July 3rd - one of the busiest days of travel in the country - Senator Carper went by the Cape May Lewes Ferry to greet those traveling. He was joined by Larry Sharp, the marketing director of the Ferry, and Heath Gherke, the Director of Operations.

July 2, 2008 Senator Carper stopped by the new John Pitts Recreational Center at Shutte Park. He chatted with Manager Zach Carter.
July 2, 2008 – Camden WyomingSenator Carper visited the Charlton School which provides the Autistic, Trainable and Severely Disabled programs in Kent County. The school received five computers from the senator's office through the Computers for Schools Programs. The computer on the left is an older computer; the one on the right was donated through the program.
July 1, 2008 — NewarkSenator Carper participated in the promotion ceremony for four Newark Police Officers. The officers are shown Lt. George Stanko, Lt. John Deghetto, Sgt. Scott Simpson and Sgt. Kevin Feeney.
July 1, 2008 – WilmingtonSenator Carper stopped by the Fraim Boys & Girls Club in Wilmington. He toured the facility and met the kids who were participating in the summer program. The senator was greeted by a nice sign welcoming him!
