New COVID-19 relief resources for Delawareans

Dear Friend,

I’m sure most of you saw the heartbreaking unemployment numbers released yesterday. In just three weeks, nearly 17 million Americans have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. The number is certainly staggering, but behind that number are 17 million real people: moms, dads, brothers, sisters and neighbors in Delaware, and all across the country, who find themselves in dire straits they never could have imagined.

Today, I wanted to check in with you and your loved ones to see how you are doing and to also share my new resource pages that I hope you will find helpful. I also want to remind you that my office is here to help if you, or someone you know, have questions about the CARES Act— the most recent coronavirus relief package – that was signed into law last month. I was proud to work alongside Senator Coons and Congresswoman Blunt Rochester to make sure important provisions made it into the bill to ensure that Delawareans have the resources needed to stop the spread of the virus, protect public health and support the families and small businesses that are hurting right now through no fault of their own.

In the weeks to come, as Congress works on a fourth relief package, you can rest assured that your congressional delegation is going to be working hard, across the aisle, to get help to those who need it most right now.

If you need help with unemployment insurance benefits, have questions about direct cash payments or are looking for relief for your small business, please visit my new resources page or do not hesitate to call my office at (302) 573-6291.

I know that this has been a trying time for our communities, our state, our nation, and the world. But, over the past month, I have been once again been inspired by how Delawareans have pulled together. It’s so encouraging to see our community members step up and help out their neighbors during this pandemic. I also want to express my deep gratitude for the men and women on the front lines of this public health crisis: we are so proud of you and endlessly grateful for your service. It’s your brave, selfless work that will get us through this trying time.

If I could, would you mind forwarding this email to two friends or family members or neighbors to make sure they have access to these resources as well? We’re all in this together, and I want to make sure we are reaching and helping as many Delawareans as possible.

Stay safe and God Bless,

Tom Carper
