I know that, for many of us, our routines look different these days. Many of us are practicing good social distancing and staying home, which is a very good thing. But I understand that you may be looking for things to do or for ways you can have a positive impact. 

Well, I have one! And it will take you just 6 short minutes!

This week, you received a very important piece of mail that I implore you to fill out: the census. 

By responding to the census, government agencies are provided with important information about our nation, including information that allows them to provide essential and much needed services across the board. Over the next 10 years, census data will be used to decide how much federal funding the citizens of Delaware get for numerous critical services, including health care, roads, infrastructure projects, emergency services, and other matters important to our everyday lives. These funds will also be crucial in helping to prepare for future healthcare crises such as Covid-19. Having proper census data is more important than ever to ensure that our state and our communities get our fair share of federal funding. 

And to collect that data, we need your help!

It has never been easier to respond to the census. You can do it online, over the phone or by mail. Please take advantage of these convenient ways to complete your form and fill out your Census either online at My2020census.gov or by phone at 1-844-330-2020. 

Now, more than ever, we are seeing how important it is to know where people are and what they need. We’re also seeing how crucial it is to properly plan for future events and crises. The census helps us do just that. 

There’s never been a better time to fill the census out. I’m asking you to take 6 minutes to complete your form. It’s an easy task that will have a profound impact on the health and safety of our communities.
