Senator Carper Statement on the Passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement on the passing of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.):

“Martha and I are saddened to hear of the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein. She was a trailblazer who valued common sense and never backed down from tackling tough issues like gun control. When I was an ensign in the Navy in the late 1960’s in California, I took a special interest in following her career. I never imagined we would one day be working together in the United States Senate. From day one as her colleague, she made me feel so welcomed. She was a good role model and highly principled. She surrounded herself with a great staff, and was willing to work across the aisle to get things done. When she spoke on the floor, people listened. I’m truly grateful for her wonderful service to the people of California and to our country.”
