Senator Carper Praises President Biden’s Historic Achievements
Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address.
“Tonight, President Biden illustrated the historic progress our nation has made under his leadership and his vision for a bright American future. It is crystal clear that President Biden has achieved more in three years for this country than most presidents accomplish in two terms. And our country is better for it.
“As I always say, bipartisan solutions are lasting solutions, and since President Biden took office, he has signed more than 400 bipartisan bills into law. With President Biden at the helm, millions of Americans are feeling everyday costs come down, from the pharmacy counter to the gas pump. These historic achievements include lowering prescription medication prices and protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act. Our economy has added over 14.8 million jobs under the Biden Administration, including nearly 800,000 manufacturing jobs and more than 270,000 clean energy jobs, thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act. And we have worked to lower the budget deficit by cracking down on wealthy tax cheats and improving resources at agencies like the IRS.
“We have accomplished so much in the last three years, but our work is not yet done. Together with the Biden administration, we will continue to build on this progress to support our nation’s veterans, protect access to reproductive health care, lead on the world stage while protecting the foundations of democracy, and make our communities safer and more resilient. I remain optimistic that our best days are ahead.”
