Carper Names New Environment and Public Works Committee Communications Director
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, announced that Rachel Levitan will serve as his Communications Director. Levitan joins EPW after years working in the House of Representatives.
“I believe Rachel’s knowledge of Congress and Committee experience will allow her to hit the ground running on day one,” said Senator Carper. “Her sense of collaboration and her get-things-done mindset are in line with my approach to leadership as chairman of EPW. I’m glad to have Rachel on my team and look forward to her input as we work to tackle the challenges facing our nation and our planet.”
Rachel most recently worked as the Deputy Director of Communications and a senior advisor for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where she managed press engagement and communications strategy for key oversight investigations and legislative rollouts. In this capacity, she served as a communications aide during the House impeachment inquiry and Senate trial regarding former President Donald Trump’s conduct with Ukraine. Rachel also served as the Deputy Director of Communications for Sara Gideon’s 2020 Senate campaign in Maine. She previously worked as a legislative assistant for former Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-CA) and a research assistant for the RAND Corporation. Rachel is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied political science and international relations.
