Senator Carper Celebrates 100 Years of the Farm Credit System with MidAtlantic Farm Credit
Joins farmers and representatives from MidAtlantic Farm Credit to highlight the importance of the Farm Credit for Delaware’s rural communities and agriculture industry
MILLSBORO, Del. – Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) toured a local farm with representatives from the MidAtlantic Farm Credit to highlight the 100th anniversary of the Farm Credit System. The Farm Credit System was created in 1916 to provide loans, leases and financial services to farmers, ranchers and rural businesses across the United States. Today, the MidAtlantic Farm Credit, which serves Delaware farmers, has 17 branches across the region and supports over 11,000 members with more than $2.5 billion in outstanding trust.
“I’m delighted to be here in Sussex County to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Farm Credit System alongside the men and women at MidAtlantic Farm Credit. Across the country, the Farm Credit System continues to do a great deal of good to ensure that farmers have the financial footing they need to embark on the difficult, yet rewarding, experience of starting their own farm operation. In Delaware, the Farm Credit System has been crucial to the ongoing success of our farmers, rural communities, local economies and agriculture industry by providing farm operations with the financial trust and support they need to get up and running or survive and thrive through difficult times. Thanks to the hard work of the men and women at MidAtlantic Farm Credit and the Farm Credit System, the future is bright for our farmers in the First State for generations to come.”
