Sen. Carper Statement on Nomination of Denise Turner Roth to be Administrator of GSA

WASHINGTON— Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), ranking member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, welcomed President Obama’s announcement that he intends to nominate Denise Turner Roth to be Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA).

“The mission of the General Services Administration is to help other agencies purchase goods and services, manage property, and promote good business practices – a mission to ensure more efficient and effective government across all federal agencies. It is essential that GSA has a permanent leader who can steer that critical mission forward,” Sen. Carper said. “Today President Obama nominated Denise Turner Roth to the top spot at the agency. As the Deputy Administrator under former-Administrator Dan Tangherlini and as the current Acting Administrator, Ms. Roth knows the ins and outs of the agency. She comes highly regarded by her colleagues, including her predecessor, and I look forward to talking with Ms. Roth about her plans to continue the agency’s progress to reduce the federal government’s real estate footprint, save money in federal contracting, and expand the agency’s ability to offer innovative information technology solutions across the federal government. I will work with my colleagues in the Senate to move her nomination in a timely and thorough manner.”

Denise Turner Roth is the Deputy Administrator for the General Services Administration (GSA), a position she has held since March 2014. She has served as the Acting Administrator of GSA since February 2015. Prior to joining GSA, Ms. Roth served as the City Manager for the City of Greensboro, North Carolina from 2011 to 2014 and as Assistant City Manager from 2008 to 2011. She was the Vice President of Governmental Affairs at Greensboro Partnership from 2007 to 2008. Ms. Roth received a B.A. from George Mason University.
