Sen. Carper Statement on Corinthian Colleges Closing
Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) issued the following statement following the announcement by Corinthian Colleges, Inc. to immediately close its remaining 28 college campuses:
“The announcement that Corinthian Colleges closed 28 campuses today is another stark reminder that some for-profit colleges are overly reliant on taxpayer dollars, specifically veterans’ educational benefits. Today, thousands of students are left wondering what tomorrow holds and, among them, are the veteran students who are also left wondering if they wasted their hard-earned Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. I will be urging the Secretary of Education and Secretary of Veterans Affairs to make veteran students a priority as the government helps Corinthian students recover from the failure of this institution.”
