Sen. Carper Statement on the Death of Four Americans, Including Ambassador Stevens During Attacks on U.S. Consulate in Libya

WASHINGTON- Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement on the deaths of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, during  attacks against the U.S. Consulate in Libya:

“I join President Obama, Secretary Clinton and my colleagues in condemning last evening’s horrific attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya. Last night our nation and the global community lost four American heroes, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, who dedicated his life to serving our country and advancing the ideals of democracy, liberty and justice across the globe. My prayers are with the families and friends of those four Americans killed as a result of this senseless violence. As we mourn this great loss of life, it is imperative that we put politics aside and honor those who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.  This is another stark reminder of the courage and the great sacrifices made by thousands of Americans who continue to serve our nation overseas in both the military and the diplomatic corps. We owe them and their families a great debt of gratitude.”
