Sen. Carper and DSU President Williams Discuss Solutions to Soaring Cost of Higher Education
WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Delaware State University President Dr. Harry L. Williams attended the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee meeting to discuss solutions to the soaring cost of higher education. The meeting brought together experts and advocates on college affordability.
“It’s no secret that the escalating cost of higher education is putting a strain on Delaware students and their families’ budgets,” said Sen. Carper. “But if we want to maintain our nation’s competiveness in today’s global economy, many more Delawareans and Americans will need to receive career- and college-level training. Dr. Williams is a leader in higher education in the First State and the nation, and my colleagues and I greatly appreciated him taking the time to join this important conversation and share his experience and thoughts on the issues of higher education accessibility and affordability. Today’s meeting was a great opportunity for leaders and experts to talk about what works in higher education affordability, what doesn’t, and what more we can do to make higher education an affordable, accessible reality for more Delawareans and Americans.”
