Sen. Carper Statement on the Rebuild America Jobs Act
WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement in response to the failed vote on the Rebuild America Jobs Act. Sen. Carper is a cosponsor of the legislation, which is a key aspect of President Obama’s job creation initiative:
“I am disappointed that, yet again, my colleagues could not come together to pass this important bill. This is a time when we need to put aside our partisan differences and do what the American people elected us to do – govern. We need it now more than ever. At a time when too many Delawareans and Americans are out of work and when our nation’s roads, railways and bridges continue to crumble, strong investments in our nation’s infrastructure are an engine for economic growth – creating good-paying manufacturing and construction jobs right here in the United States and facilitating commerce by replacing the many deteriorating roads and bridges that Delawareans and Americans travel on every day. The American people expect us to work together to help get this economy moving again and to help put Americans back to work. It’s time for Congress to come together and do just that.”
