Sen. Carper Highlights Senior Medicare Patrol Program

NEWARK, Del. – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) joined leadership from the Administration on Aging to highlight the work of the Delaware Senior Medicare Patrol Program at the Newark Senior Center in Newark, Del.
 
The Delaware Partners of Senior Medicare Patrol Program is a statewide organization that enlists retired senior citizens to serve as volunteers to provide information and help other Medicare beneficiaries seek appropriate courses of action when they suspect fraud, waste or abuse in the Medicare program. The program helps with many issues, ranging from billing or coding errors to potential fraud, abuse, or waste of Medicare and Medicaid funds. 
 
“The Delaware Senior Medicare Patrol Program is a way for all of us to help keep the costs of health care down,” said Sen. Carper. “We are faced with a tough economic reality, but before cutting critical services such as health care for seniors, we need to make sure we’re stretching every tax dollar we currently spend. Through the Delaware Senior Medicare Patrol, seniors have the opportunity to help stop waste, fraud and abuse when they see it.”
 
Next month, Sen. Carper will introduce a bipartisan bill to curb waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid.
