Sen. Carper Statement on Arizona Shooting
WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement regarding the shooting in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011:
“My heart goes out to my friend, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, her staff, her constituents and their families. This is an unspeakable tragedy that has shaken all of us. I have known and admired Gabby for several years, and have been proud to support her campaigns for public office. She is a bright and caring person and a dedicated public servant. Not only am I heartbroken by this grievous injury to Gabby, members of her staff and several constituents, but all of us also mourn the loss of Judge John M. Roll, Christina-Taylor Green, Dorothy Morris, Phyllis Schneck, Dorwan Stoddard and Gabe Zimmerman. Martha and I will continue to keep Gabby and all of the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers as we hope for a full and speedy recovery.”
