Carper and Castle to Make Announcement on the Central Branch YMCA’s Renovation Project, Will Call on the Community to Help Avert Transitional Housing Crisis
WILMINGTON, DE – Without the completion of the YMCA’s Restoration Project, Delaware will face a growing crisis in transitional housing. Senator Tom Carper and Congressman Mike Castle will join members of the YMCA community, former New Jersey Governor Jim Florio, the President of Commerce Bank of Delaware and others Monday to announce real progress towards the completion of the Central Branch’s project. The Central Branch Renovation Project adds 40 new rooms and renovates the existing facilities so that critical safety and environmental concerns can be met, and deteriorating systems can be updated. This project will increase the number of beds by 28% – a significant contribution to the state’s transitional housing supply.
