Senator Carper To Participate in Delmarva Chicken Festival
Will lend a hand with children’s games and the Grand Prix
Millsboro, DE – United States Senator Thomas R. Carper will be attending the 56th Annual Delmarva Chicken Festival on Saturday, June 25th, 2005. He will be joined by Delmarva Poultry Industry Executive Director Bill Satterfield, Millsboro Chamber of Commerce President Joan Boyce, and Millsboro Mayor Joe Brady. Senator Carper will join Sherman the Shorebird from 12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. for Chicken Capers, a popular activity for families. Children will be participating in various games and fun competitions. The Senator and Sherman the Shorebird will help kick off events, distribute awards, and spend time with the kids and their families. After a brief meeting with members of the poultry industry, Senator Carper will arrive at the Mini Grand Prix at 2:00 p.m. for the final heat of the day, benefiting the American Diabetes Association. Following the opening ceremonies, the Senator will briefly address the crowd, deliver the infamous, “Gentleman, start your engines,” line, and drop the green flag to signal the beginning of the race.
