Plants for a Livable Delaware Campaign Receives Grant

Newark, DE –Senator Tom Carper today announced that the U.S. Forest Service has awarded the University of Delaware an $86,595 grant to help improve the quality of the environment at the university and its surrounding areas. This money would go toward the university’s Plants for a Livable Delaware campaign. The goal of the program is to achieve greater biological diversity by identifying and promoting plant species that thrive without having detrimental effects on other plants in the state’s particular ecosystem. The university has agreed to match the grant, resulting in a total of $173,190 for the program. “I commend the university’s commitment to biological diversity in the state of Delaware,” said Senator Carper. “This money will go a long way toward improving Delaware’s natural resources.”
