Sen. Carper on Nomination of Charles Oberly, III for U.S. Attorney for the State of Delaware
WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) issued the following statement responding to President Obama’s decision to nominate Charles Oberly for U.S. Attorney for the State of Delaware. Charles will be considered by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and if approved, will receive consideration by the full Senate.
"Charles Oberly served as an outstanding prosecutor in the state of Delaware and now is a highly respected attorney in private practice. I am confident that he will excel in the role of federal prosecutor, if confirmed. Charles is committed to upholding the high intellectual and ethical standards that this position requires. As the U.S. Attorney from Delaware, Charles will make us all proud. I urge my colleagues to see that he has a swift confirmation."
Charles Oberly, III served three full terms as the elected Attorney General of the State of Delaware. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University. Currently, Charles is a partner at the law firm of Drinker Biddle and Reath LLP, where he specializes in criminal defense and corporate, commercial and civil litigation.
