Carper Celebrates Historic ACA Ruling
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), senior member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, released the following statement reacting to today’s 7-2 Supreme Court ruling upholding the Affordable Care Act (ACA):
“This is an amazing moment for the health and wellbeing of Americans. By a wide margin, the highest court in the land has once again reaffirmed the Affordable Care Act, allowing this landmark law to continue providing bedrock patient protections and quality, affordable health care for millions of families across Delaware and our entire nation. The stakes could not have been higher: A full repeal would have spelled chaos throughout our health care system by removing protections for over 100 million Americans with pre-existing conditions, making insurance less affordable, and ending crucial support for rural hospitals. With President Biden in the White House, I have every confidence that this Administration will build upon the success of this law and ensure the ACA has the resources and support necessary to further increase access to affordable care for all Americans, regardless of their zip code or income level.”
