Carper offers free tax help to President Trump: Do yourself and the country a favor and release your taxes
As Americans submit their tax returns to the IRS, Senator Carper calls on Trump to release his tax returns to the American people
WASHINGTON—Today, as Americans file their taxes and the nation’s tax season comes to a close, Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, called on President Trump to release his tax returns.
“Despite the White House’s efforts to quash unanswered questions, the Trump administration continues to come under fire about potential conflicts of interest and questionable business entanglements with foreign countries,” Senator Carper said. “If the president has nothing to hide, he certainly has a lot to gain by releasing his tax returns and proving to the American people that he’s abiding by the strictest ethical standards. My advice to President Trump: do yourself and the country a favor and release your taxes.”
In March 2017, Senator Carper joined six members of the Finance committee in sending a letter to Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah.) requesting a committee review of President Trump’s tax returns. Chairman Hatch denied the request.
