Open Invitation to the public, Senator Carper invites you to join him for an open discussion on faith-based initiatives
Open Invitation to the Public Senator Tom Carper invites you to join him for an open discussion on faith-based initiatives on Friday, June 1st at Delaware State University’s Science Center in Dover from 10 a.m. to noon. Don Eberly, Deputy Director of the White House office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives, will attend and present the President’s plan. President Bush’s recent proposal to give federal funds to faith-based charities has generated considerable discussion in our state and Senator Carper would like to join you in this discussion. The forum will include representatives from Catholic Charities, the Ministry of Caring, Jewish Family Services, clergy representing a number of faiths, the Salvation Army, social workers, assorted parents, and representatives from numerous state and local government agencies. Each of these groups will get the chance to question the Senator and Mr. Eberly and weigh in with their opinions. When Senator Carper did his “tax-cut town hall” meetings, pollster John Zogby called Delaware “a microcosm of the nation,” and the national print press that attended heard dozens of new perspectives from the attendants.
