Student Artists Give Thanks for NYC Courage, Carper Joins Children and Chamber to Say ‘Thank You’.

REHOBOTH, DE – Rehoboth Elementary School students are saying “thank you” to the New York City firefighters, police, rescue workers and volunteers who exhibited honor and courage in the wake of September 11th. Senator Tom Carper will join the child artists who designed the cover to inscribe a “Thank You Card” signed by hundreds of Delawareans. The card is part of a Rehoboth-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce program called “Operation: We Love New York.” “We thank these heroes for being role models for our children. We thank the students of Rehoboth Elementary for giving us the chance to express our sympathy and support,” Carper said. “On September 11th, Osama Bin Laden showed these children the true face of terror. In the days and weeks that followed, the New York City rescue workers showed these children the real meaning of courage.” Businesses and community locations throughout the Rehoboth-Dewey area are prominently displaying internal pages of the card so that Delawareans can add their signatures and inspirational messages. The card will soon be presented to the New York City Police and Fire Representatives. WHO: Elementary School Children, Senator Tom Carper WHAT: Signing a “Thank You to Heroes” Card WHERE: Rehoboth Elementary School, 500 Stockley Street, Rehoboth, DE WHEN: 10:30 am Tuesday, January 8th
