Carper Set to Tour Kent County Thursday, April 4th

DOVER, DE – Kent Countians will have an opportunity to have their voices heard in the nation’s Capitol soon, as Senator Tom Carper sets out in Dover Thursday for a day anchored with town hall meetings. Carper will begin the day with a lengthy senior summit. Invited seniors from all over the county will have the opportunity to talk with their Senator about local and national issues of importance to them. Carper will meet with residents of one of Dover’s premiere impatient drug and alcohol rehab program before reading with Kent County youngsters ranging from three to five years old at the Central Branch YMCA’s after school program. Carper will hold the second of three town hall meetings on his “Balancing Budget Priorities” Tour in Dover Thursday evening. The tour is focused on the tough choices Congress faces on the future of social security, Medicare, defense spending and investments in education. Carper will be asking Delawareans to present their priorities at meetings. THURSDAY 4/4 1:30- 3:00 p.m. Senior Summit at the Elderwood Village of Dover Area seniors join Senator Carper for a summit at host facility Elderwood Village. Invited seniors from all over the county will have a chance to speak to their Senator at length about local and national issues of importance to them. Location: 21 North State Street, Dover 3:15- 4:00 p.m. House of P.R.I.D.E Senator Carper will meet with proud residents of Dover’s unique impatient drug and alcohol program. This is the first of three visits Carper will make this week to area health programs working together to serve the under and uninsured. Location: 105 South New Street, Dover 4:15- 4:45 p.m. Literacy Blooms at the Central Delaware YMCA Senator Carper will join young readers at the Central Y’s after school program. Location: 150 Saulsbury Road, Dover 7:00- 9:00 p.m. Tough Choices: Balancing Budget Priorities” Town Hall Meeting Congress faces tough choices about the future of social security, Medicare, defense spending and investments in education. Before returning to Washington to vote on the President’s budget, Senator Carper will ask area residents to present their priorities at a town hall meeting in Dover.
