Carper on Passage of Senate Budget Resolution
Washington, DC – Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) today issued this statement following the final vote on the Senate budget resolution: “Unfortunately, the budget that passed the Senate today fails to address our nation’s top priorities. What we need is an immediate, short-term stimulus with reasonable tax cuts and spending limitations that lead to a balanced budget.” While Senate moderates succeeded in cutting the President’s tax cut in half, this budget still contains $857 billion in tax cuts that will lead us into deficits for many years to come. This is simply a budget I cannot support.”
