Press Call from Middle East with Senator Tom Carper
Media Invited to Participate in Live Interview and Q&A Session from Saudi Arabia
WILMINGTON (Nov. 29, 2005) – Senator Tom Carper will host a press call from the Middle East on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. EST. This call, which falls in the middle of his week-long trip to Iraq, Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, will focus on the meetings the Senator has participated in thus far. The Senator has already met with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, and Dr. Salam Fayyad, finance minister for the Palestinian Authority who will be retiring from this post later this week. Meetings with Jordan’s King Abdullah and Prime Minister Adnan Badran were also held today. Carper’s trip to the Middle East is part of a congressional delegation fact-finding mission led by Senator Chuck Hagel (R – NE) from Monday, November 28, 2005 to Saturday, December 3, 2005. Representatives Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) and Vic Snyder (D-AK) are also on the trip. Other possible meetings throughout the week include: Iraqi military and government officials, and Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abd al-Aziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abd al-Aziz.
