Downstate Tomorrow; Seniors, Homeless, Public Officials and Voters, Senator Carper’s Recess Schedule for Tuesday, August 13th
GEORGETOWN, DE – Senator Tom Carper will meet with some of downstate’s seniors, homeless, public officials and voters Tuesday at visits throughout the area. Carper will tour the facilities at Casa San Francisco and eat lunch with those who both facilitate and frequent the shelter. Casa San Francisco helps the jobless, displaced and homeless in Sussex County. It offers a 12 bed, 30-day emergency shelter and a hot meal at noon, seven days a week for the walk-in public, shelter residents and local seniors. Volunteers cook and serve the meals. Later in the day, the Senator will visit with Sussex County seniors at the Cape Henelopen Senior Center. He will meet with Dewey Beach mayor Bob Frederick, check out the town’s new federally subsidized electric police car and watch a lifeguard/rescue team demonstration and. Carper will culminate his afternoon by helping with a voter registration drive being sponsored by the Bethany- Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce.
