Carper to Join 80th Anniversary Celebration of Wilmington Fire Department
WILMINGTON, DE – Senator Tom Carper will pay his respects to those who sacrificed their lives in the service of our city and salute the men and women who currently serve during the Wilmington Fire Department’s 80th Anniversary parade this Saturday, October 27. “Our world is an increasingly dangerous place and our safety rests at least in part in the hands of Wilmington’s firefighters – a group of men and women striving and succeeding to uphold the standard of dignity and decency carved out by those who served before them,” Carper said. “Over eight decades that have proven time and again, that if a family is in trouble, if a fire threatens a home, if rising floodwaters endanger a child – the Wilmington Fire Department will be there for us – leading the way to safety.” The parade begins at 10:00 am at 16th and King Streets. More than 1,000 firefighters are expected to attend.
