Carper Statement on Energy Bill Conference
WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., released the following statement regarding the announcement today that Republicans had finished work on a comprehensive energy bill: “While Republicans may have concluded their work on an energy package, I and other Democrats have yet to see and evaluate the product. Indeed, Democrats have been virtually ignored by Republicans as they crafted this important legislation. I have repeatedly said the country needs a comprehensive energy bill, one that correctly promotes energy efficiency and alternatives such as biodiesel fuel. I will have to closely examine the details of this package before deciding whether it includes these critical elements and others needed for an effective, twenty-first- century energy policy.”
