Sen. Carper Announces Ursuline Student Breanne Porter Accepted into Senate Page Program

WILMINGTON, Del. – Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) announced that Breanne Porter, a student at Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, Del., has been accepted into the U.S. Senate Page Program.  

Approximately 100 young men and women from across the nation serve as pages at any given time. Porter, who was sponsored by Sen. Carper, will be responsible for delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex. Her other duties include preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk.  

“Breanne’s selection to serve in the prestigious Senate page program over the summer is a tremendous honor, not just for Breanne, her family and her school but for the entire state of Delaware ,” said Sen. Carper. “Since 1829 outstanding young Americans have served as pages, providing valuable assistance to the Congress and learning firsthand about our Democracy. Along the way, Senate pages learn valuable skills, make lifelong friends, and witness history being made. Breanne’s acceptance into the program reflects her academic strength and commitment to serving the Senate. I want to offer my congratulations to Breanne for this achievement and wish her the best of luck. I look forward to working with her this summer.”  

For more than 175 years, pages have served the United States Congress. Pages are appointed and sponsored by a member of Congress and must be high school juniors and at least sixteen years old.
