Sen. Carper Statement on President Trump’s Decision to Raise White House American Flag to Full-Staff

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement regarding President Trump’s decision to raise the White House American flag to full-staff less than 48 hours after the death of U.S. Senator John McCain:

“Around the world people are rightly mourning the passing of a hero, maverick and servant of the people, John McCain.

“We will not let a lone act of pettiness and insecurity take away from the legacy of a man who served our country with honor and distinction for over 60 years and was a true leader in every sense of the word.”
